Hi, I'm Ashirbad Pradhan

PhD student in Systems Design Engineering

Hello,

My name is Ashirbad Pradhan. I am a third year PhD student in Systems Design Engineering Department at the University of Waterloo. My supervisor is Dr Ning Jiang. My current research topic is electromygraphy (EMG) based Biometrics. I am also working on Gesture Recogntion using EMG, Deep Learning for Gait Classification and implementation of Haptic feedback. Check out my projects

Some other biosignal projects include:

  • Accurate heart rate measurement using very noisy ECG signals
  • EOG processing for gesture detection and HCI applications
  • Around-ear EEG for BCI applications

    My research publications include:

  • Biosignal processing
  • Prosthetic control
  • Artificial intelligence/machine learning
  • Biomechanics and gait analysis

I have been awarded the National Science and Engineering Research Council Doctoral (NSERC-CGSD) Scholarship (2022), Mitacs Globalink Scholarship (2016), Queen Elizabeth Scholarship (2017), New Brunswick Innovative Foundation STEM Scholarship (2017), and I have been selected in the National round for Vanier CGS Scholarship (2022).

    Get to know me better

    My Latest Project

    Real Time Gesture Recognition

Electromyography (EMG) sensors collect muscle actvity which can be used for accurately predicting hand gestures. With a custom designed software, training data can be collected from human participants as well as real time testing can be performed with a trained model.
