Pacman with Haptics
The lab assignment was to learn the basics of how to use the Haply device. I first tried out the Wall and Fisica maze examples from the repository to play around and check out the features of the device.
I completed a Pacman themed maze game. Incorporating many of the concepts shown on the past examples, like gamification and start and stop buttons, to achieve better immersion in the game.
This was the sketch of the graphics, and the end goal of the game is to eat all the fruits before hitting the stop button. The game design is simple, to start you need to press the GO! button, which enables sensations and the game comes alive. The aim is to go through the maze eating the fruits along the way, once you eat one the other pops up. Only after every fruit is eaten the game can come to an end by reaching the END button and getting a “You Win!” message.
Force Feedback: As you can see in the video, instead of avoiding the mazes, I rolled the avatar on them. This was to get a feel of the force feedback using the Haply. Similar to the hello wall experiment, the mazes had a “feeling” of walls. The avatar could be rolled on them to reach the end target of the maze.
